Haohua''s tyre factory, with an investment of US$500 million, has officially commenced its first phase of operations in Hớn Quản District, Bình Phước Province.
The Việt Nam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) announced on December 10 that its member companies sold 44,200 vehicles in November, marking a month-on-month increase of 14 per cent.
The proposed decrease in tax rates for self-charging hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) with nine seats or fewer, as outlined in a draft law by the Ministry of Finance, appears to be a significant shift in tax policy, according to experts.
During the five-month span, VAMA members sold a total of 108,309 autos, with the sales of domestically produced units falling 14 per cent and imported vehicles rising 8 per cent year-on-year.
Việt Nam has made efforts to build a strong domestic automobile industry with a view to becoming an exporter. However, the young industry faces many challenges, especially in implementing FTAs.
Last month, 25,700 vehicles were produced and assembled in Việt Nam, an increase of 4 per cent compared to the previous month (24,800 vehicles), marking a comeback from a sharp decline in sales experienced in the months before Tết.
The strategy should also aim to increase the market share of domestically produced automobile products gradually, with the intent to replace imported products.
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), its members sold a total of 27,289 units in March, up 135 per cent against February.
